Living For God in Today’s World

Living For God in Today’s World

There is an interesting scripture tucked away in 1 Chronicles where the various men who joined David’s army are described.  1 Chronicles 12:32 says, “And of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do.” (AMP) The NIV translates it like this: “men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”

If you are searching for how to live your life in a way that truly glorifies God and reaches your neighbors and your community, then consider the times in which we live.  Consider that there are people who are looking for the reality of God and His power.  Consider that though you may understand Who He is and recognize His hand working in your life and this world, there are many who do not.  They need you to point them to the One, the True, the Eternal God.

It really is much the same as what we see the Apostle Paul do while in Athens in Acts 17:16-34.  While in Athens, Paul became acutely aware of the obvious in-road for presenting the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  He understood the times and he knew what he should do.

Let me challenge you today to diligently discover what is influencing and impacting the lives of those around you.  So many things have changed even over the past few years all around the world. Governments have changed, media has changed, music has changed, values changed, laws have changed, etc…

In these ever-changing and seemingly uncertain times, we can still find rest, peace, and assurance in the indisputable fact that our God and His Holy Word never change!  Be bold!  Be strong!  Be courageous!  Live out these unchangeable truths from God’s Word.  Understand the times and God will show you what to do to get the life-giving Word into the hearts of your friends, family, and community.

Love in Christ,
