Making Your Circumstances Work For You
Making Your Circumstances Work For You
Here is one thing I know about circumstances. Circumstances do not determine the outcome of your life’s joy, peace or soundness of mind. You determine whether circumstances work with you or work against you. If you are allowing positive and negative situations to affect your thoughts and emotions in different ways, then YOU are allowing circumstances to work against you instead of for you.
I challenge you to DAILY remind yourself that your external circumstances do not determine your peace, soundness of mind, joy, or happiness. All of those are your choice. These essential states of being flow from your relationship with your Heavenly Father.
We often convince ourselves that it is much more complicated than that. Moreover, many times we will find ourselves saying things like, “I will be happy when _____.”
Think of it this way. Your circumstances are not there to provide peace, joy, or contentment. Your circumstances are present to remind you that God gives you peace, joy, and contentment. So, make your circumstances work for you. Make them drive you into your Heavenly Father’s presence. Positive experiences should immediately send you rejoicing in God’s presence. Not-so-positive situations bring you into the reassuring, protective, and loving hand of God. Therefore, let all circumstances remind you of His goodness and His mercy which are following after you every day of your life!
Chip Ingram wisely said, “You are so deeply connected to God that circumstances do not define your life; your relationship with God does.”
