You’re Past Is NOT Your Potential!
“Your Past is NOT Your Potential!”
This short quip is filled with so much meaning. The potential for life is not found in our past successes or failures. The beauty of our lives lay in the simple truth that we are ever-changing, ever-growing, and ever-transforming into the person God has created us to become.
I was recently challenged as I read a quote from Henry James who wrote, “Most people live, whether physically, intellectually or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential.”
As I thought about this, it became apparent to me that many times we restrict ourselves much the same as we restrict God. What do I mean by that? Well, most of us have heard the statement, “placing God in a box.” The implication is that we often limit what we expect God can or will do in our lives. In much the same way, we often limit what we, ourselves, can or will do in our lives.
Let me encourage you and challenge you – “Do not limit yourself!” Realize that the very Spirit present at creation is now living within you! You are created in the ‘image of God.’ So, broaden your horizons. Put a little more expectation into each day. Expect to hear God speak to you. Expect to see God work in your behalf. Expect to grasp the new directions God is leading you. Expect to move beyond your past and charge ahead into new territory!
What does God have planned for you? Your potential in God is literally UNLIMITED! So, take the limits off and get out of that restricted circle.
