Key Focus Of A Diligent Believer
Scripture shows us that the power of life and death flow across our lips. Our lips bring forth the expressions of our heart. Syllable upon syllable, our lips are the gateway through which the condition of our soul is expressed. Our lips are also the instrument through which we bring praise and petitions to the throne room of God.
If you were to use a cup to empty out an overflowing encumbered toilet, you would not in turn drink from that cup without at first cleaning it. Would not the drink become tainted and unacceptable?
As a Christian, as God’s representative, you bring forth words that will literally give life. Yet consider this, are those words flowing untainted? Lips of a person are not tainted from curse words alone. The lips are tainted by words of frustration, words of disappointment, words of discouragement, words of distraction, words of doubt, and words of carelessness.
In most cases, the words of a diligent and sincere believer are blemished simply by words of carelessness. Consider careless words. Where do they come from? Careless words originate from a lack of thought. Careless words are not only found in conversations among each other, but careless words often abound in our prayers. I implore you to renew a holy reverence for your Heavenly Father in your life. Develop a true awareness of who God is within your heart. I am so challenged by R. A. Torrey’s comments on this matter. “We are really taking the name of God in vain when we fancy we are praying to Him….Oh, let those two words, “to God,” “to God,” “to God,” sink deep into your heart; and from this time on never pray, never utter one syllable of prayer, until you are sure you have come into the presence of God and are really talking to Him.”
I so deeply desire for you to experience the power of God in your life. I envision your life and words bringing forth rivers of living water to all who have the grace of knowing you. I pray for you to grow in the Lord and in the knowledge of God. I pray for you to realize result upon result and answer upon answer to your prayers. May you be as E. M. Bounds expresses, “the golden pipe through which the divine oil flows.” May you “not only be golden, but open and flawless, that the oil may have a full, unhindered, unwasted flow.”
