Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It

“So many believers think of the fruit of the Spirit as little more than a passive list of pleasant qualities that can help improve their personalities. But they’re far greater than that!  They’re pure spiritual power.” – From Faith to Faith

Rarely are we aware that the key to our life’s success is a matter of re-constructing ourselves to conform to the nature of God.

We all want God’s promises in our lives but what does He say is the purpose of them?

2 Peter 1:4 “He has given us these great and precious promises so that through them you may participate in the divine nature.”  Verse 5 goes on to say, “For this very reason,” the reason of conforming our nature to God’s, we are to “make EVERY EFFORT” to add faith, goodness, knowledge [of God], self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love as ever increasing qualities in our nature, our personality.

God says this conforming of our natures is the key to never failing. We must be continually increasing in the levels of God-likeness in us so we will not be “ineffective and unproductive” in ministry (verse 8).  Continually increasing in God-likeness is the key that will cause you to “never fail.” (verse 10)

Consider this: If we need this God-likeness, if it is the key to never failing, why aren’t we earnestly striving more for it?

To coin a phrase from a famous television program: “Your mission, should you choose to accept it is” to take it up a notch!  Turn up the intensity of your personal, ever-increasing efforts to add the pure spiritual power of the fruit of the Spirit in your life!

Increasing in Christ,
